Mihintale: Deep Breathes and Meditation
Known to be the birthplace of Buddhism in Sri Lanka, Mihintale, Sri Lanka is a famous pilgrim site where tourists can find various sacred monuments and religious buildings. It is situated on a plateau overlooking the ancient city of Anuradhapura. The town’s name literally translates into “plateau of Mahindu” -- in honor of an Indian emperor’s son who was sent to the country to preach about Buddhism.
Best Time to Visit
Mihintale, Sri Lanka is prevalently oppressive hot all throughout the year even though torrential rain is experienced starting September and declining by December. The earliest months, January and February, and latest months, November and December, are usually the ones with the most comfortable weather, least rainfall, fewer tourists, and inexpensive Mihintale LK hotels. The peak season for tourism in town is every July when a festival takes place in honor of the discovery of Buddhism in the country.
