Found just 4 miles from the city center of Tripoli, Libya, the Mitiga International Airport is a public-military type of airfield, which served the capital city of Libya. The airport, which is known as MJI, was initially constructed as an Italian Air Force base in 1923 under the name of Aeroporto Militare di Mellaha before it became a German airbase in World War II.
