Mpacha Airport- MPA
Located on one of the national highways of the country around 11 miles from the southwestern side of Katima Mulilo, Katima Mulilo Airport is a public-use airport, which is often referred to as Mpacha Airport. It is currently operated by Namibia Airports Co. and serves the town of Katima Mulilo, Namibia that also happens to be the capital of the region of Zambezi. It is known under the IATA code of MPA and ICAO code of FYKM.
Best Time to Visit
The airport itself stands at an elevation of 958 meters above the mean sea level. There is only a single runway on Katima Mulilo Airport, an asphalt-paved airstrip that runs to almost 2,300 meters. Currently, only Air Namibia, the national airline of the country, serves Mpacha Airport. It provides scheduled flights to Rundu Airport, which serves the city of Rundu, the Kavango Region’s capital, and Windhoek-Eros Airport, which serves the city of Windhoek, the country’s largest city and capital. If you are visiting Namibia from the region of Zambezi, make sure to explore the town of Katima Mulilo, which is home to the Impalila Island and Caprivi Adventures, two of the most visited attractions in the area.
