Miri Airport – MYY
Internationally recognized by its IATA code of MYY, Miri Airport is a public-use airfield owned by the government of Malaysia and operated by the Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad. It is found about 10 kilometers from the city of Miri, Malaysia, which is under the state of Sarawak. The Miri Airport ranks as the sixth-busiest in the country and the second most active in the state. Although there are daily international flights scheduled in the airport, the Department of Civil Aviation Malaysia does not recognize it as an international airport.
Best Time to Visit
MYY-Miri Airport doubles as the hub for the MASwings and AwanInspirasi. It is also the second-biggest airfield in the state next to Kuching International Airport. Its two-story terminal building covers a floor space of 16,448 square meters and can accommodate two million travelersin a year. However, since 2012, the airport has always exceeded its capacity. In fact, in 2018, Miri Airport handled a total of 2,350,700 passengers. Its runway, on the other hand, spans to a length of over 2,700 meters and a width of 60 meters and is capable of handling large aircraft such as Boeing 737. From Miri Airport, make sure to visit Bekenu, Piasau, and Rumah Ebet.
