The center is used as the main administrative and ceremonial center for the Newcastle City Council. The Newcastle Civic Centre is 200 feet tall, which makes it the eighth tallest building in Newcastle. It is most notable for the sculpture called "River God Tyne" and "Swans in Flight" both created by David Wynne.
