Nouakchott International Airport-Oumtounsy in Nouakchott, Mauritania is one of the major international airports that serve the capital of Mauritania - Nouakchott. The airport is situated 25 kilometers north of the city. Opened in 2016, the NKC-Nouakchott is a replacement to the old Nouakchott International Airport. The airport is considered to be one of the largest projects in the region since the early 1960s. Designed by Omer Houessou, President Mohamed Ould Abdel Aziz was part of the inauguration of the airport. Turkish Airlines from Istanbul-Atatirk was the first flight served in this international airport.

The NKC-Nouakchott airport covers a total area of 320,000 square feet with 6 jet bridges, and a passenger terminal that can handle more than 2 millions passengers in a year. Airlines served in the airport include Air Algerie, ASKY Airlines, Royal Air Maroc, Tunisair, Turkish Airlines, Air France and Binter Canarias. A second terminal is dedicated to serve air cargo. A VIP reception area is also available in the airport. Two runways, 2400 meters and 3400 meters are available in the area. For sightseeing, you can head to the regions of Nouakchott and Ksar.
