La Tontouta International Airport- NOU-Tontouta Intl.
La Tontouta International Airport is one of the major international airports that serves Noumea, New Caledonia and its nearby regions. The airport was formerly known as Noumea - La Tontouta International Airport. Aircalin Airlines is based in the airport and regularly serves four other airlines. NOU-Tortouta Intl. had a record high of 529,349 passenger traffic in 2017. The airport was originally built by the U.S. Navy Seabees that was the home of the Pacific Theater during World War II.
Best Time to Visit
An increase in passenger traffic and better services were observed in the airport after the conclusion of the major expansion in the terminal in 2012. At present, there is a total of five stands in the terminal capable of servicing commercial jet aircrafts. More stands for smaller aircraft were also added to the airport. The airport currently serves the following airlines - Air New Zealand, Aircalin, Qantas and Air Vanuatu. The airport services flights to Australia, New Zealand and some parts of Asia. Cargo flights to Brisbane via Pacific Air Express are also served in La Tontouta International Airport. The city is Baie de Citrons is also near this airport.
