Olvera: A Pueblos Blanco Town
Spain has the White Town Route or more locally known as the Pueblos Blanco. The Pueblos Blanco are whitewashed town communities located southwestern of Spain. Olvera, Spain is located at the tip of this White town in the province of Cadiz. It may look a little bland from afar but the white town is especially scenic because of its structure and how it reflects the sunlight over the day. Aside from being popularly part of the Pueblos Blanco, Olvera is also a large and one of the best olive oil producers. Oil groves are abundant in town with almost 2 billion trees surrounding the town.
Best Time to Visit
Summers in southern part of Spain is especially busy with many ferias. In August, Olvera, ES also celebrates the ferias of Andalucia. The festival is more of an exhibition of local produce. This festival is popular among tourists because of the good finds in during the events. Expect Olvera hotels during these times are expensive.
What to Do & Area Attractions
Standing on top of a hill, the 12th century Olvera Castle is a site worthy of a visit. The Parish Of Our Lady Of The Incarnation is also a beautiful church to visit among the many in Spain. It is a whitewashed church that beautifully reflects the sunlight especially during sunset. After touring the city, take a rest in the cozy TUGASA Hotel Arco de la Villa with an overlooking view of the Zahara-El Gastor Reservoir.
