The Oncenter Complex is a three-city-block complex that stands out in downtown Syracuse, New York. It is composed of a convention center, sporting arena, and entertainment theaters that can accommodate events and functions of all kinds and sizes. It opened in 1951 with the War Memorial Arena, and in 1975, the John H. Mulroy Civic Center Theaters were added. The complex grew further when the Nicholas J. Pirro Convention Center was consolidated in 1992. Oncenter has been dubbed as the “Heart of Syracuse.”
Some of the hotels near OnCenter include the modern Crowne Plaza Syracuse located along I-81 and offers well-appointed rooms. Another one is the Jefferson Clinton Hotel, a historic downtown hotel built in 1927 while The Parkview Hotel, BW Premier Collection, is a traditional hotel situated across a lush park. There are likewise a number of landmarks and tourist spots that are worth visiting while in the area like the Cayuga Museum of History and Art or also known as the Dr. Sylvester Willard Mansion home, which has several changing exhibits each year plus a permanent exhibit. In Skaneateles, there is the Charlie Major Nature Trail, where visitors can bask in the beauty of nature while learning history through a walk or bike ride along its path. The Chittenango Falls State Park in nearby Cazenovia is a 193-acre state park with a picturesque waterfall as its main attraction. Fishing, hiking, and picnicking may also be enjoyed while there.
