Osvaldo Veira International Airport in Bissau, Guinea-Bissau is the only facility of its kind located in Bissau. Located in the capital city, the airport initially took the name Bissalanca from 1963 to 1974. The airport was mainly used as the home base of the Portuguese Air Force. Closed due to the Guinea-Bissau War of Independence, it was closed momentarily and was reopened in July 1999. The first flight to the airport after the war landed with Prime Minister Francisco Fadul together with other dignitaries from Portugal.

OXB-Osvaldo Vieira Intl. features a single runway with a length of 10,500 feet. It is located 128 feet above sea level. Among the three airports located in the region, this airport is the only one with a paved runway. Current airlines served in the airport include the Air Senegal, ASKY Airlines, euroAtlantic Airways, Royal Air Maroc, Tap Air Portugal and Transair.
