Portland: New York’s Hidden Town Full of Surprises
A town in Chautaqua County, Portland is a town within the state of New York. Portland, NY was first settled in 1804 and was established in the year 1813. The town later on reduced in size, giving birth to two additional towns: Ripley in 1816, and Westfield in 1829. Its neighbouring area is Lake Erie, Stockton, Pomfret and Westfield. One of its notable places is Greencrest, a lakeside hamlet located at the northeast part of the town nearby Lake Erie shore.

During the month of April up until June and September are the ideal months to visit the attractions within the town and nearby it. Up until early November, outdoor, warm-weather activities can be best enjoyed like swimming in the beach or dipping on resort pools, as well as roaming around the city through its parks like Luensman Overview Park. The Seafood and Wine Festival during the month of February is also the best time to know more about the culture of New Yorkers in Portland, as well as other cultures through the Dumpling Festival held the same month.
