Punta Arenas: An Enticing Gateway Town
Lying on the edge of Chile's southernmost Patagonia region is Punta Arenas, a city located on the Strait of Magellan. It is a big metropolis that’s both rugged and majestic. Also known as the gateway to Antartica, Punta Arenas continues to captivate visitors with its stylized European architecture and jaw-dropping natural beauty. The Carlos Ibanez Del Campo International Airport (PUQ) is less than 30 minutes from the city center.
Best Time to Visit
Because of its location, Punta Arenas’ weather is considerably moderated.
The cold months are from June to September. November to March has warmer temperature that’s why this is the best time to visit Punta Arenas. Although this peak season means more crowds and pricier Punta Arenas Chile hotel rates, the weather is ideal for exploring the town and its environs. If your travel happens to be in February, you can take part in the Muestra Custumbrista de Chiloe, a celebration of Chile culture.
