El Embrujo Airport – PVA
Found on the island of Providencia, Colombia, El Embrujo Airport is a public airport that serves as the main gateway to the island destination. It is situated on the northeastern side of Providencia, near the boundaries of the Old Providence McBean Lagoon National Natural Park. The airport is recognized as PVA (IATA code) and SKPV (ICAO code).
Best Time to Visit
The airport’s current asphalt-paved runway spans to a length of 1,290 meters. During its early operations in the 1970s, El Embrujo Airport’s runway was shorter, thus limiting the flights to and from the island of San Andres. Thankfully, in 1984, the government added 300 meters to the airstrip and renovated the passenger terminal to resemble that of Caribbean architecture. After the upgrade was finished, SAM Colombia began serving the airfield. Today, only Satena Airlines provide flights from Providencia to San Andres aboard a Let L-410 Turbolet aircraft. If you’re on the island of Providencia, you can also check out Aguamansa, which is a five-minute drive from the airport.
