Ratanakiri Airport - RBE

Ratanakiri Airport is located in Ban Lung, Cambodia. It is the main airport in the area and in addition the town of Ban Lung, it also serves the Ratanakiri Province. Taking its name from the province it is located it, Ratanakiri Airport goes by the IATA code RBE and the ICAO code VDRK. There is one runway, which measures 4,265 feet. The airport is owned by the local government and is operated by the local government as well.

The Ratanakari Province is located in Northern Cambodia. Its capital Ban Lung, is about 300 miles from the country’s capital Phnom Phem. Ban Lung sits on Cambodia’s border with Laos. Commercial flights to Ratanakiri Airport stopped in 2005 following an accident that involved a Y-7-100C aircraft. The accident involved a crash when the plan from Phnom Phem hit the side of the runway, causing the landing gear to collapse. Cities, towns, villages, and suburbs found near the airport include Ban Lung, Lumphat, Stung Treng, and Play Cu.
