Richburg is a town located in Chester County and was originally intended to be called Rich Hill. However, South Carolina already had Rich Hill, located in the Lancaster County. Soon after the first post office in Richburg, SC was built, the town took the name Richburg instead. The region is home to two destinations under the National Register of Historic Places list - Elliott House and Landsford Plantation House.
