Salem: West Virginia’s City of Music Festivals
Home of the second largest fair in Virginia, Salem, West Virginia is located in Harrison County at the junction of West Virginia Route 23 and U.S. Route 50. This city was where the Seventh Day Baptists first settled in the west of Alleghenies in 1970, and was then called “New Salem”. It was incorporated on the 25th of February 1905.

Salem Apple Butter Festival is one of the most awaited annual events in Salem, WV. It is held during the first week of October, filled with family-oriented activities. Another on the festivals list is the well-known Blue Ridge Music Festival done during the month of July in Salem Civic Center during the Salem Fair and Exposition. For others who are seeking outdoor adventures, June to mid September is the ideal time for them to pack their bags and travel to Salem.
