San Pedro: Quiet Suburbs of the Young
San Pedro, Costa Rica is part of San Jose Province. It is also the main city of Montes de Oca Canton. It is known to be home to top universities in the country like the University of Costa Rica, Universidad Latina de Costa Rica and a lot more higher institutions. Because of the town’s higher number of student’s population, the city is considered hip and youthful. There are two airports within close proximity to San Pedro. One is Juan Santamaria International Airport (SJO) which is an hour away. Tobias Bolanos International Airport (SJQ) is much closer to the town center.
Best Time to Visit
The biggest festival happening in town is Zapote. It is featuring rollercoasters and the largest bullfight in Costa Rica. During the festival, one can expect fully booked San Pedro hotels. The holiday season means carnival rides, dancing, music, and fireworks. This is considered a much-awaited event in the town.

San Pedro has several attractions suited for everyone. For those with children, the Amusement Park San Jose is ideal. There is also the Braulio Carrillo National Park which is an interesting tourist spot for those who love nature.
