Sen Monorom: Feel One With Nature
Inhabited by the indigenous Pnong people, Sen Monorom, Cambodia is a town with an Old American West vibe. It is one of the hidden gems of the country. The town is a great place to fully immerse yourself in nature. Sen Monorom’s thick forests, serene lakes, drizzling waterfalls, and diverse wildlife interest many tourists to visit. It is also home to more or less half of the elephant population in the country.
Best Time to Visit
Sen Monorom, Cambodia has a tropical monsoon climate. This means it rains half of the year. The most recommended time to visit the town is during the early months of the year – January to March. These are the driest months. Although by March, the number of visitors start to increase and may have the town crowded and Sen Monorom hotels may get more expensive. However, if you want to experience the famous water festival, PChum Ben Festival, you must visit the town in September.
What to Do & Area Attractions
As Sen Monorom holds the largest number of elephants in the country, it is a must to visit the Mondulkiri Project, which is a place where you can trek with the elephants on a hill towards a waterfall and help them was up. The project does not, in any way, promote riding the elephants. You can also check out Doh Kromom Mountain for hiking activities where you will also find waterfalls to bathe in such as the Monorom Waterfalls. Take time to visit the Mondulkiri Project.
