São Jorge Airport – SJZ São Jorge
São Jorge Airportor also known as Aérodromo de São Jorge is the single airport in Sao Jorge Island settled in the region of Azores, on the verge of Fajã da Queimada. It was opened in April 1983 and is one of the smallest airports in the country. The airport has two arrival routes within Portugal but has no scheduled international routes. São Jorge Airport only handles a few number passengers yearly because some of the people that visit São Jorge travel through ferry, as this is more affordable.
Best Time to Visit
The airport of São Jorgeis just a small-sized airport that explains the limited facilities they have in the place. It has a single runway that can support most single-engine aircraft, business jets and some smaller commuter aircraft and permits night landings. There is a small shop in the Arrivals area that offers snacks, drinks and some local souvenirs. The airport also has free WiFi access and parking.
