Świeradów-Zdrój: A Small, Promising Spa Town
Świeradów-Zdrój, Poland is a spa town in Luban County that officially became a town in 1946. Over the years, it had a lot of names. It started as “Fegebeutel”, a German word that means “a place where your purse will be cleaned”. Then, it became “Flinsberg” before it finally adopted its current name.
Best Time to Visit
The perfect time to visit Świeradów-Zdrój is during the months of May through September, for the best weather. Peak tourist season is usually during the months of January, July, and September. Tourists are least likely to visit in October, which means hotel rates and flights are relatively cheaper during this month.
What to Do & Area Attractions
When in town, tourists should visit Smrk, which is usually called “The King of the Jizera Mountains”. A Tabulovy kamen stone monument on its northern slope marks the site. It was named after what was once a mighty spruce tree near the border. In 1892, a wooden observation tower was built on top of Tafel Fichte. 110 years later, a second tower was built out of steel. Of course, the town would not be called a spa town without a reason. Swieradow-Szroj Spa House is one of the most famous attractions in the area. The building was designed by architect Grosser. It has various state-of-the-art facilities designed to bring ultimate relaxation to all visitors. Also don’t forget to visit the Swieradow Park and the nearby Swieradow-Szroj Gondola.
