Tamale Airport –TML-Tamale
Tamale Airport operates with an airport code of TML and is located in the town of Tamale, Ghana nestled in the Northern Region. This public and military airport was built as a main operational base for troops during World War II. Meanwhile, the landing airstrip was acquired at Nyohene while several buildings were made operational including an aerodrome control tower, air traffic control offices, rescue and fire fighting services, standby generator services, and public places of convenience. TML Airport was previously run by the airforce and was used to operate strategic activities.

In 2008, the status of Tamale Airport was currently upgraded to an international airport after renovating the facilities. The new airport facilities include a new runway, taxiways, terminal, fire service building, renovated tower building, carpark, and VIP lounge.
