Vava’u International Airport – VAV Vava’u
Vava’u International Airport is a medium public airport located in the municipality of Vava’u Island in Tonga, 6.2 miles (10 kilometers) north of Neiafu, capital of the Vava’u group of islands. Also known as Lupepau’u International Airport, it is operated by the Ministry of Civil Aviation.

Vava’u International Airport has a single lighted, bituminous asphalt or tarmac runway. It is designated 08/26 and is 5,593 feet (1,705 meters) long. Fiji Airways is currently the only carrier that operates a direct service through Vava’u International Airport although charters and private planes are welcome to use VAV’s facilities through coordination with Tonga Airports Ltd. Domestic services are run by Real Tonga, which handles all of Tonga’s domestic flights. The most popular routes are to Nadi, Tongatapu, Apia, and Niuatoputapu.
