Veintisiete de Abril, Costa Rica is a town in Guanacaste. The province has a cultural and economic heritage strongly influenced by beef cattle ranching. Rincon de la Vieja is one of the most famous attractions in the province. It is an active, andesitic complex volcano boasting with different fumaroles and hot springs. Its name means “the old woman’s corner”, which came from a local legend. It was declared a Wildlife Refuge in the 1970s and added to the RAMSAR List of Wetlands of International Importance in the 1990s.
