Wichian Buri: Home of the Delectable Wichian Buri Grilled Chicken
Wichian Buri, Thailand, is a district in Phetchabun renowned for its local dish, Wichian Buri grilled chicken. It became part of the province in 1898. It briefly became “Tha Rong” in 1939. Its name finally changed back to “Wichian Buri” in 1944.
Best Time to Visit
The perfect time to visit Wichian Buri is during the months of October through April, for the best weather. Peak tourist season is usually during the months of August, January, and July. Tourists are least likely to visit in April. One of the most popular events in the area is the Phetchabun Rocket Festival, which is held every mid-May. It features parade and rocket throwing.

Wat Pha Sorn Kaew or Wat Phra Thart Pha Kaew in Khao Kor is one of the must-see attractions nearby. Its name means “temple on a glass cliff”. A Buddhist monastery and temple, it is prominent for its main pagoda and surrounding structures adorned with more than 5 million colorful mosaic tiles and pottery objects. Tourists should also visit Phu Thap Boek. It is a mountain situated in Phu Hin Rong Kla National Park. Most of the site is composed of mixed evergreen forest.
