Known as the “Czech Capital of Kansas” thanks to its high number of Czech immigrants, Wilson, Kansas is a city found in the county of Ellsworth. The town was originally named as Bosland as the National Land Company eyed it to be a cattle trade center. However, this didn’t materialize, and the town was called Wilson, according to the name codified by the US Post Office. However, it wasn’t until 1874 when the Czech culture was established in the town, following the immigration of hundreds of Czech natives. The high influx of tourists is all thanks to the annual Wilson After Harvest Czech Festival hosted by the city.
