The best time to visit Windsor is during the months of April through June and September through November, for the perfect weather. Peak tourist season is usually during the months of February, March, and June. Tourists are least likely to visit in November. One of the most anticipated events in town is the July 3rd Fireworks, which pays tribute to the nation’s Independence Day. Aside from fireworks display at night, there are also different vendors offering local products.
What to Do & Area Attractions
Livermon Park and Mini Zoo is one of the most well-known attractions in town. It is home to several alpacas, buffalos, emus, llamas, long horn sheep, ostriches, peacocks, and other animals. It has picnic pavilions, playground equipment, and public restroom facilities, making every visit worthwhile and hassle-free. It also features the Cashie Wetland Walk, a boardwalk trail where everyone can learn more about wetlands and their importance to the environment. There are canoes, life vests, and paddles that visitors may use for free. Another interesting tourist attraction in town is Historic Hope Plantation, the restored home of former Gov. David Stone. It gives visitors a glimpse into the way of life during the 18th and 19th centuries in rural eastern North Carolina. Guided tours through the gardens, Hope Mansion, and King-Bazemore House are available.
