Abbeville Airport – XAB Abbeville
Abbeville Airport (XAB) is also referred to as Aerodrome Abbeville. This public airport is located 2.5 miles from Abbeville, France, particularly in Buigny-Saint-Maclou. In 1940, this airfield was used by the British Forces before they left during the battle of France. Following their departure, the Luftwaffe took over and the airfield became base for German fighters until 1943. A year later Polish troops finally gave the airport its independence and in 1945 the USAAF remained in the airfield. XAB-Abbeville operated Medevac flights as well as transported ammunition, food, fuel, medicine, fuel, and a variety of supplies. However, when the war ended, the airport was also left abandoned.
