Xining: The Summer Resort Capital of China
Located in the Tibetan Plateau, Xining is the capital of the province of Qinghai which literarily means a place in the west. Xining has a long standing history as a frontier city and a stopover along the Silk Road and the trading center of the Tang Empire. Tourists may visit the three centuries old and the most popular mosque in China, Dongguan Great Mosque and admire its diversiform towers and walls. Nearby is the Xining Nanshan Park located at top of the mountainoffering a panoramic view of the entire Xining. Another must-visit place is the Bird Islands which is an enchanting body water home to hundreds species of birds.
