Xieng Khouang Airport – XKH Xieng Khouang
Situated in Phonsavan, the capital town of Xieng Khouang Province in northeastern Laos, Xieng Khouang Airport is a regional airport about two miles (four kilometers) west of downtown, that is easily reached via Highway 10. Its airport code is XKH from the Xieng Khoungh Plateau in the province where the airport is located.

Xieng Khouang Airport has one asphalt runway designated 07/25 that measures 8,555 x 130 feet. It can handle most commercial jumbo jets, long haul transport aircraft, single engine planes, light twins, business jets, and commuter aircraft, but it only allows daytime landings. Because of its location, XKH an ideal gateway for travelers who wish to visit Phonsavan’s Plain of Jars or the Megalithic Jar Sites of Xieng Khoungh Plateau just 2.3 kilometers away. Inscribed into the World Heritage List at the 43rd session of UNESCO’s World Heritage Committee, the site is littered with over two thousand tubular-shaped megalithic stone jars. XKH is also the airport of choice for those who would like to see the 16th century Buddha at the temple ruins of Wat Phia Wat in the old provincial capital, Muang Khoun.
