Sault Ste. Marie Airport (YAM) is an international airport situated nearly 10 miles of Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario in Canada. In 1961, the Canadian government opened YAM, which was operational until 1998. Afterward, the Sault Ste. Marie Airport Development Corporation took over the airport and since then, YAM is the only airport that has no affiliations with any municipality. In 2002, the airport opened a runway and a recreational area.
