Best Time to Visit
Formerly Sylhet Civil Airport, Osmani International Airport was then renamed after General Muhammad AtaulGaniOsmani, famed military leader who served under the Bangladesh Forces in 1971. The airport initially only served domestic flights. A facility expansion in 2002 that was fully realized in 2008 eventually allowed it to host international routes. Its first regular international flight was to Dubai, served by Flydubai. The airline eventually withdrew this flight in 2015. This initiated protests from the passengers stranded at Sylhet. Flydubai reinstated the route, only to withdraw it again in 2018.
