Aeroparque Jorge Newberry – AEP Buenos Aires
Aeroparque Jorge Newberry is public and military with an airport code of AEP, situated in Palermo, Buenos Aires in Argentina. It is a state own airport and being operated Aeropuertos Argentina 2000 S.A. and serves as the main hub of Austral Lineas Aereas, LATAM Argentina and Norwegian Air Argentina. The airport area was a reclaimed wetland that was developed to be an Airport Island. It was planned and designed in 1945 by Victor Acuna, an Aeronatics Secretariat, and in 1947, it was inaugurated as Aeroparque 17 Octubre in 1947. Aeroparque Jorge Newberry has a total land area of 138 hectares with a single concrete runway that has accommodated over 13 million passengers in 2018. The airport has undergone expansion from 2007 – 2014 to cater the growing numbers of passengers travelling to and from Palermo and its nearby cities of Boedo, Old Palermo, Villa Crespo and Villa Martelli. The expansion has construction additional two terminals and the runway was extended by 180 meters.
