Kushiro: Home of Fresh Kinds of Seafood
Kushiro, Japan is found in the eastern part of Hokkaido. The port city is famous for Kushiro Shitsugen. This is considered the largest marshland in the country. The said marshland has become a national park. It is the home of rare and wild crane birds or Tancho. During the winter season, it attracts a lot of tourists who want to observe the red crown bird. The closest airports to the town are Kushiro Airport (KUH) and Memanbetsu Airport (MMB). Because it is a major port city, the town is known for its fresh seafood. Tourists often hang out in the restaurants near the area.
Best Time to Visit
Tourists are advised to visit the town between the months of September to October. The entire wetlands of the town turn into something beautiful. For this reason, observatories are set up for people to see the beautiful scenery. Lake Akan also is filled with autumn leaves.
