Formerly known as the Paraparaumu Airport, the Kapiti Coast Airport provides services to the entire Kapiti Coast area. It is located on the North Island of New Zealand, which is between the Wellington dormitory suburbs of Paraparaumu in the east, Paraparaumu Beach in the west and north, and Raumati Beach in the south. It caters to 2 airlines, namely the Sounds Air and the Air Chathams. These flight routes are to Blenheim, Nelson, and Auckland, respectively.

The Capiti Coast Airport was formerly government-owned. It was the greater Wellington’s primary airport until 1959. The PPQ-Kapiti Coast Airport was privatized in 1995. Water coming from the Wharemaku Stream flows through some parts of the airport’s land. Kapiti coast became New Zealand’s fastest growing regional centers so international flights were introduced. The affluent businessmen and professionals benefited from this as the airport was able to accommodate their lifestyle. 36 flights in a week were accommodated by Air Chathams alone using a Saab 340. Mana, Kilbirnie and Lower Hutt are among the many cities surround the airport.
