Hokkaido Prefectural Sports Center, Sapporo, Japan
Hokkaido Prefectural Sports Center is a sports arena located at Sapporo, Japan. Also known as Kitayell, it is owned by Hokkaido Prefecture with a seating capacity of 8,000. It was designed by architect Kume Sekkei and was open the public in 1999. The center doesn’t only serve big sports events, but it also caters to small activities. It has an exercise gym consisting of treadmills and weights usually used by the sports tenants of the place. Some of the sports tenants are the professional basketball team Levanga Hokkaido and the futsal club Espolada Hokkaido. The center was the venue for the 2006 FIBA World Championship and 2006 Women's Volleyball World Championship.
