Mbarara Airport – MBQ – Mbarara
The Mbarara Airport is a public airport owned and operated by the Civil Aviation Authority of Uganda. Located in the town of Mbarara, Uganda, the airport is the gateway for exploring the commercial, administrative, and municipal center of the country’s Western Region. The airport, which has an airport code of MBQ, welcomes mostly business travelers because of the presence of several industries such as steel plants and breweries are located within the city.
Best Time to Visit
The MBQ Mbarara airport is located within 6 miles west of the city, and also serves the cities of Ibanda and Bwizibwera. The airport features a single gravel runway, which measures 5,446 feet. Also known as Mbarara Airstrip, the MBQ Mbarara Airport is located near Lake Mburo Park and is 7 miles northwest of the central business district. It has its own radio tower. The airport has terminal services and a windsock-type navigational aid. It has no immigration, customs, and air navigational services.

While the Mbarara Airport has no in-terminal accommodations, there are plenty in the central business district, which are about 5 miles from the airport. Transport options are mostly bus services and taxi cabs.
