Best Time to Visit
The construction of Hamar Airport is a joint project of the Royal Norwegian Air Force and Hamar Municipality. The airport was inaugurated in 1950 with a 600-meter runway. As scheduled flight operations increase, the runway was extended to accommodate the aircraft that travels via HMR and also became a major domestic player in the training of helicopter pilots during the early 1960s. In1985, the airport was renovated with upgraded navigational systems. Recently, Hamar Airport now caters to private transportation only that can take passengers to their next destination at Oscarsborg, Rasta or Sandvika.
