European Solidarity Centre, Gdansk, Poland

European Solidarity Centre in the coastal city of Gdansk in Poland serves as a museum, which is dedicated to the history of Solidarity, a trade union that was founded in the area in 1980, as well as other opposition factions of the Communist Bloc in Europe. Opened in August 2014, the museum shares the revolution of Solidarity and the end of communism in Europe. It has approximately 2,000 exhibits housed at the property. But, the building is also a research and academic center that organizes educational activities, and a library that contains about 100,000 documents and books. On top of that, ESC is a public meeting space for the residents wanting to develop the democracy of the area.

European Solidarity Centre is an organization that commemorates the triumphant Solidarity movement. In addition to this center, there are more significant and must-visit attractions in Gdansk, and some are close-by. Neptune’s Fountain, which is a historic fountain constructed from 1606 to 1633, is only 10 minutes away from the venue. A short walk from the fountain, the St. Mary’s Church can be visited, and tourists can appreciate its magnificent architecture. The Gdansk Shakespeare Theatre is also worth visiting to watch some plays. After a day spent touring around the city, a nice nap at an excellent hotel would be great.
