The famous Buckingham Palace serves as the London residence and headquarters for administrative works of the United Kingdom royal family. The palace is located in the City of Westminster and a focal point for the British people especially during national celebrations, rejoicing, or mourning. The Palace was originally known as the Buckingham House. In all, the palace has a total of 775 rooms. Its garden is the largest private garden in London. The rooms open for the public are the staterooms.
Locals from many nearby cities such as Old Windsor, and Windsor often come to the palace when celebrating occasions or simply as a tourist spot when visiting London. But aside from the palace, London has plenty of attractions to offer to visitors. Another famous landmark is the Windsor Castle, the royal residence at Windsor. It is also the largest and oldest castle in the world that is occupied. Horse racing is a popular past time in London and one of the best places to witness the sport is at the Mahalaxmi Racecourse. Lastly, a beautiful space to visit is Dorney Lake where visitors can see rowers at work. The lake is a private property of Eton College.
